Nervous patients

As a practice we are keen to encourage anxious/nervous patients as we have many years’ experience of successfully treating anxious patients. The Dental Health Centre and has established a sensitive and compassionate team of dentists and staff who work together to help you overcome your fears.

We recognise that there are many reasons why people can be anxious about visiting the dentist and our team of clinicians are keen to understand what your reasons are and to help you to overcome them.

We have successfully treated many patients whose fear of the dentist has been so bad that they have avoided a dental visit for many years. When this is the case it is common to feel embarrassed about this, which may worsen your anxiety. We understand this and want to reassure you that we will not judge you for this. Our team will ensure you feel comfortable at every stage of your visit with us.

If you are nervous and worried about a dental visit, you don’t need to put it off any longer, we do free acclimatisation visits where you can come in and talk about your fears and look at the options we might offer you. We have many patients registered with us who were extremely nervous about their first visits; the great thing is that having overcome their fears, those patients now feel comfortable attending regularly for routine care. We would like this to be you, so why not book a visit!

Call us today on 0161 445 5459 or alternatively email the practice on contact@didsburydentalhealth.com.

Inhalation Sedation (happy air)

What is Inhalation Sedation?

We offer inhalation sedation as an option for children and adults to help to cope with dental treatment. This is a technique that uses a mixture of sedative gas (called Nitrous Oxide or more commonly known as ‘Laughing Gas’ and Oxygen to assist both children and adult patients to cope with fear and anxiety and cooperate with dental treatment.

Adults

Inhalation Sedation (Happy Air) is useful for patients who are nervous or patients who have a gag reflex problem. It helps reduce both anxiety and pain and will help relax patients during treatment.

Children

Inhalation sedation (happy air) is a way of making dental treatment more pleasant. It is useful for children who are anxious or find it hard to cope with dental treatment. It is a much safer, easier way to treat children, than other forms of sedation.

Having finally taken the advice given by the dentist I then had an major ‘anxious spell’ about the procedure to the extent that I was close to cancelling with one week to go. Reception staff and the dentist supported me after I requested help from my GP. I made it in to see dream team Dr D+ Nurse M and I am now in possession of my first ever temporary crown and it is so exactly like my tooth that they’ll be lucky to get it off me lol.
